House Exchange – free mutual exchange platform

House Exchange

If MB Housing provides your co-operative with a full management service, as a tenant member you have free access to  House Exchange, a website that allows you to mutually exchange with other social housing residents.

House Exchange is an online system that allows all social housing residents to advertise their home and find a mutual exchange with any other social housing provider resident. The system is also designed to allow tenant members to swap with other co-operatives all over the country should they wish to continue to live in a co-operative housing scheme. This handy leaflet explains how to search for other co-operative properties. The website uses modern automated matching technology to match tenants’ current property details with the information in their search criteria. These matches are displayed in the form of property adverts under the heading ‘Direct Matches’, so tenant members can see which properties are the perfect fit for their needs.
House Exchange mobile app

The service is free to use and there is also a dedicated House Exchange App available in the Apple

App and Google Play stores. For residents who do not have access to the internet, there will also be a paper-based option.

To find out how to register check out the House Exchange video here.

You can also follow House Exchange on social media which regularly posts listings.  If you have any questions about how to use the site, once you have registered there is an FAQ section and there are some great bite sized videos you can access House Exchange – YouTube.

Please note: you need to ensure that your tenancy agreement allows you the Right to Exchange.  Please contact your co-operative secretary if you need confirmation that this right applies to your tenancy.
